Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings 9

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 2 Eggs Large
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Prep the pan – Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
  • Make the batter – In a large bowl, whisk together Nutella and eggs until fully incorporated and no streaks remain, about 1 minute of vigorous stirring. Stir in flour and salt until combined. Batter will be very thick.
  • Bake – Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes or until edges look set.
  • Cool completely – Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing. They will look underdone when pulled from the oven but will continue to set as they cool.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, pull them when the toothpick still has a few moist crumbs — they'll firm up perfectly as they cool. Use room temperature eggs for easier mixing, and be sure to spoon and level your Nutella when measuring.

Nutella: is there anything you can’t make with it? If you’re standing in front of the jar wondering that very question, you’ve come to the right place. These easy Nutella brownies require only four ingredients you most likely already have on hand and produce a fudgy, dense, chocolatey brownie that looks like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen when you haven’t.

No butter. No oil. No mixer. Just one bowl, a spoon, and half an hour from bowl to belly. These come together so quickly and easily, they’re perfect for whenever a craving strikes and you don’t want to go to all that much fuss. I’ve made them dozens of times over the years — they’re just that good.

Ingredients

There are only four simple ingredients you need to make these ridiculously easy brownies. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup Nutella – This makes up the majority of your batter. Nutella acts as the fat, gives the brownies their chocolate flavor, and adds sweetness all in one!
  • 2 large eggs – Eggs add body to the brownies and bind everything together.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour – Helps hold everything together and gives the brownies structure. We only use a half cup so they don’t become cakey.
  • Pinch of salt – Optional but adds SO MUCH. Salt enhances the chocolate flavor and keeps your brownies from tasting too sweet or flat.

That’s it! Truly just four ingredients.

Directions

Step 1: Prep the Pan

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper. The parchment will make your life so much easier when lifting the brownies out of the pan to slice.

Step 2: Make the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together Nutella and eggs until fully incorporated and no streaks remain. This should take about 1 minute of vigorous stirring. Stir in flour and salt until combined. Batter will be very thick.

Step 3: Bake

Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes or until the edges look set.

Step 4: Cool Completely

Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing. Resist the urge. The brownies will look VERY underdone when you pull them out of the oven, but they will continue to cook as they cool. If you slice too soon, you’ll have a pile of delicious brownie batter. Trust me.

Variations

  • Use chocolate chips – Stir in a handful of mini chocolate chips for extra gooeyness.
  • Add chopped nuts – Chop up some hazelnuts or walnuts and stir them into the batter for added crunch and flavor.
  • Swirl in peanut butter – Dollop spoonfuls of peanut butter over the batter and use a toothpick to swirl it around before baking for a delicious PB & chocolate treat.
  • Top with sea salt – Sprinkle brownies with flaky sea salt right before baking.

Nutella Brownie Tips

Don’t overbake. This will result in dry brownies. You want to pull them out when you can still see the slightest glimpse of gooeyness on your toothpick. They’ll continue baking and solidify as they cool, giving you the ultra-fudgy texture we’re going for here.

Use room temperature eggs. I know, nobody has time for this. But cold eggs will cause the Nutella to seize up when you try to mix them together. Room temperature eggs emulsify into the Nutella much more easily.

Be sure to spoon Nutella into your measuring cup and level off with a knife. It’s easy to over-measure Nutella, and if you use too much, your brownies will not bake properly.

Don’t skip lining your pan with parchment paper. Nutella brownies are notoriously sticky. Lining your pan ensures you’ll be able to lift them right out for easy slicing.

Mix-Ins

As amazing as these brownies are on their own, they also happen to be delicious with some mix-ins stirred right into the batter. Give these a try:

  • Nutella Chips – Nutella chips are life. Add extra gooeyness and chocolate flavor by stirring in mini chocolate chips.
  • Hazelnuts – Chop some hazelnuts and stir them into the batter for the perfect crunch and classic Nutella flavor combination.
  • Peanut Butter – Dollop spoonfuls of peanut butter on top of the brownie batter before baking and use a toothpick to swirl it into the batter.
  • Sea Salt – Sprinkle extra sea salt on top of the brownies right before baking.

Storage

Leftover brownies will keep well covered at room temperature for up to 4 days. They also refrigerate well and can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Who doesn’t love cold Nutella brownies straight from the fridge?

You can also freeze brownies for up to 2 months. Wrap individual servings in plastic wrap and store in a zip-top freezer bag. Thaw at room temperature or microwave for 20–30 seconds.
